This home was owned by Jack Blanton who was the editor & co-publisher of the Monroe County Appeal founded by his father in 1873. Mr. Blanton was the subject of a picture essay by Norman Rockwell in The Saturday Evening Post in 1946. Jack Blanton also was a writer for the St. Louis Globe-Democrat paper & wrote several articles called When I was a Boy . Later on those articles were composed into a book called When I was a boy .
