This home was owned by Jack Blanton who was the editor & co-publisher of the Monroe County Appeal founded by his father in 1873. Mr. Blanton was the subject of a picture essay by Norman Rockwell in The Saturday Evening Post in 1946. Jack Blanton also was a writer for the St. Louis Globe-Democrat paper & wrote several articles called When I was a Boy . Later on those articles were composed into a book called When I was a boy . The home still stands today & the worst part about time moving forward are the things that ultimately get left behind. The bones of the home are in great condition! The home does need TLC. Family History

When Norman Rockwell looked for a country newspaper editor to paint, he came to the owner of this house, Jack Blanton.  Rockwell created a picture essay of the editor in 1946. Jack lived in the home with his wife Mary, son Edgar and mother-in-law Candace for six decades.
