OHU50K NOTES

This is one of my all-time favorite old houses under $50k.  It sold back in 2019. The new owners contacted me in 2020 saying how delighted they were with their new home. They renovated it, and have put it on the market now for $179,900 for a new family to appreciate. I thought you might enjoy seeing the Before and After photos. The photos at the top of the page are the BEFORE photos from the 2019 listing. At the bottom are the AFTER photos from the current listing. What do you think of the renovation?

BEFORE LISTING

First off, it’s located on a brick street with old fashioned lamp posts and lovely older homes in a virtually no-crime neighborhood. Secondly, former owners reversed the 1960’s misguided redo to bring it back to near perfect original state. Note the lincrusta, leaded glass, lighting fixtures, pocket doors, hardwood floors and fabulous kitchen cupboards.

It appears the c.1906 Queen Anne was built from Radford plan book design No. 1509, but in reverse. Load this house up with your antiques, and I’m sure it could become one of your favorite old houses under $50k, too.

UPDATE 2020: The proud new owners contacted me, and they couldn’t be more delighted with their new home. From the horse’s mouth, “It feels like a mini mansion inside. The previous owner spent a fortune with newer roof, updated electrical, new furnace, air conditioning, new plumbing. We are keeping the original kitchen cupboards, gonna build a center island to hide dishwasher and slide-in gas range to update kitchen but keep the vintage look. I can’t believe the deal we got for lower than asking price.”

Such wonderful news!

    Absolutely beautiful home.
I want to move to Kansas. My husband thinks it’s not a good idea.

If we were to move there, I’d buy this house in a flash.

Great restoration. So tired of seeing these beauties wrecked. Some people try to cover the charm and craftmanship; it’s like putting a Mohawk on the Mona Lisa. This house was beautifully done, kudos,!
