This handyman special is somewhat over our $50K mark, but it has so many wonderful original features, I couldn’t resist. I love the vintage fencing, and the dining room built-in is amazing, as is the window seat and stained glass windows! A tiled bath, hardwood floors, natural woodwork and diamond windows also grace the home. Even the 1950s kitchen has some appeal.

Of course, the cone fireplace in the middle of the living room is odd. Our neighbor makes his living by restoring these mid-century modern fireplaces and sells them for between $1,500 to $4,000. He recently sold one to singer Lana Del Rey. I would have to remove the one in this house and try to find salvaged bookcase built-ins that most likely were in place when the house was built in 1910.
