Family History

This was the home of Raymond Eugene Summers (1886-1947) and his wife, Althea Ash Summers (1889-1981). Ray was a sheet metal worker who made his way into politics as assistant supervisor of Rock Island township. They raised their daughter, Lurline, in this home. After Ray died in 1947, Althea remained a widow for the rest of her life and lived in the home until her death at age 92 in 1981. That made a total of almost 60 years that the Summers family owned this home. I am sure they would be turning over in teir graves to see it in this condition.
