House History

The home was built with the finest materials for Charles Meigs Boswell (1856-1927). Charles was the son of a doctor and was employed as bank president of a local Chase City bank. He lived in this mansion with his wife Etta, children Robert and Charles Jr., mother Mary Boswell, sister-in-law Alma Elam and a servant until his death in 1927. Etta, Alma and Charles Jr. continued to reside in the home well into the 1930s, but by the 1940 US Census they had sold the home.
