OHU50K NOTES $75,000 Sold for $77,500
The mansion sits on a lovely 1.4 acre lot in Chase City, Virginia, was built around 1912. It seems that some lovely older homes owned by physicians and business owners were razed just a few houses down the street where the current Family Dollar and CVS sit.

Sorry, no.

oh how beautiful! Since moving to PA, where slate roofs are still common (because old houses are still common), I’ve learned a little about them. As beautiful as they are, they have some downsides. One, because they are an old technology, replacing fallen slates is difficult (or at least not easy, read expensive). My handyman says his slate roof loses a few tiles every year. He also said they transmit heat more than today’s conventional shingles, and so his attic is always hotter in summer than those of houses with asphalt shingles. He dreams of of the day he replaces his roof altogether. I see a lot of metal roofs here, which makes sense, given how windy the state’s climate is.

Interesting. Thank! Sounds like I would not like a slate roof with this heat wave.

Interesting that such a grand house has such a plain front door.
