This home has had a wonderful history filled with culture. When the First Church Christ, Scientist, was being built, members held their services in the auditorium of the Carnegie Library and the scriptural reading workshops were held in our featured home. As a side note, the Americus Carnegie library, a 2-story building with an auditorium on the second floor, was a one of its kind in Georgia.
Lula Hay owned the home in the 1920s and 1930s. She was a teacher and practitioner of Christian Science. Miss Kate Land was a boarder in the home who was a music teacher and who also held a music studio in the home.
