c.1920 Handyman Special Cottage in Chanute KS Under $50K ~ Sold

This cute handyman special cottage sits on a street with several sister houses. The gingerbread on all of these homes is outstanding. I could not find the exact address for our featured home on the US Census records, but many on this street worked as drillers for the oil company in the 1920s.

Both the downtown and historic home districts of Chanute offer a variety of architectural styles and examples of restoration. The James and Ella Truitt House, located at 305 N. Steuben Ave., was listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Neosho County, Kansas in 2014 and is just down the road from our featured home today.  Chanute also has several examples of WPA projects and wonderful Italianate commercial buildings.
