Family History
John Lawrence Johnson (1885-1959) had this home built for his family around 1919. John had to get written consent through the courts from the mother of his minor bride, Hulda Christina Johnson age 17 in 1912, in order to marry her. John was 27 at the time. The couple raised seven children in this home, Eugene, Harriet, Harold, Frances, Ruth Ann, Betty and Mary Jane. John worked as a foreman, then later the proprietor of a baby chick hatchery.
