Before and After – c.1922 Illinois Brick Cottage

UPDATE:

OHU50K featured this brick cottage in May 2020 when it was listed at $24,897. Per Mason County GIS records, it sold for $17,000 on 7/1/2020, then renovated, re-listed,  sold for $78,689 on 9/1/2021, and sold again for $90,000 just a month later on 10/8/2021. I usually reserve my thoughts to myself on these before and afters. I am always happy that a house has been saved, but this one is so disappointing. Among a slew of other things, did they really have to remove that bathroom tiled floor?

A brick cottage, fixer upper or not, always has such curb appeal! The ivy looks lovely, but I am afraid ivy does a lot of damage to a home’s siding and will need to be removed. I planted ivy too close to the foundation of my own house and had a tug-war with it every month as it ran underneath the siding.
I am not quite sure what is going on with that angled fireplace alcove, but the built-in seat is lovely. The home needs updating for sure, but the tiled bathroom floor is a keeper. Perhaps a bit of money could be recouped by selling off the 1950’s/60’s lighting fixtures that do not go with the period of the house.
