Family History

Per US Census records, Charles Fredrick Podewells (1874-1946) had this house built for his family sometime before 1910. Charles, an immigrant from Germany, worked as a kilns man for the Home Laughlin China Company. At the time Charles worked for Homer Laughlin, the company was spread over more than 10 acres in East Liverpool and had more than 3,500 employees.

I am sure Charles, his wife, Mary, and children, Harry, Mabel, and Harriett, as well as the three three boarders, ate off Homer Laughlin dishware while living in this home.
