Here is a for sale by auction home in Batavia, NY. Starting bid is $20,000, which seems a bit high to me for a fixer upper in Batavia. I will have to keep track of it, to see what makes the winning bid. Already about two dozen bids have been submitted up to $25,000 with the deadline set for January 26. My husband’s uncle was a jockey at Batavia Downs for some years. He and Aunt Marie took care of my husband’s grandfather Pasquale, who was an NYPD officer with a thick Italian accent. In 2012, we visited Pasquale’s gravesite in Batavia, but stopped at several cemeteries before finding the right one. My main memory of the city is that the cemeteries have beautiful monuments.
