OHU50K NOTES

Located on a corner lot, this c.1931 Craftsman bungalow in Charleston, West Virginia, is an American classic.

Little known fact: These small homes originated in the colonial Indian province of Bengla to house British authorities. They were usually one-story thatched huts. The basic simple folksy style really took off in the US after it was adopted by the arts and crafts movement. It was then that the gabled roof, front porch and intricate woodwork became synonymous with the term bungalow.
