This was the home of William Edgar Bruner (1868-1964) and his wife, Amanda Morelock Bruner (1868-1952). The couple had two children, Rolla and Wilbur. He started a handle business in Missouri in 1888. After several business relocations, as W.E. Bruner and Sons, he bought out the Ivory Handle Company of Hope and renamed it the Bruner Ivory Handle Company.
