c.1935 Starter Home in Charleston WV $50K ~ Off Market

409 Clemmer Dr, Charleston, WV, 25302.    $50,000 Off Market

OHU50K NOTES

Sitting atop a knoll, this starter home began life in 1935. The Dutch Colonial has been well-kept, inside and out, but could use some exterior details to give it more curb appeal. Tell me your ideas.

REALTOR COMMENTS

Hardwoods with a main floor master make this a great starter home. Fresh paint and vinyl siding make this home move in ready. Great rental location on a quiet street, convenient to shopping and minutes from the interstate. Huge backyard.

I would start by expanding the backyard off of the house by creating a larger level area for a bigger patio/entertaining area, with a retaining wall, and usable steps to the clearing above. Using that excavation, build up the front yard with a matching retaining wall, and bury that ugly drainage hose under some crushed granite; add boulders to create a “dry creek”. The current bushes don’t serve any purpose at all, but could easily be replaced by climbing wild roses along the retaining wall. The second story window could be replaced by an arch window that follows the roof line design. Solid barn style shutters, and two or three color exterior scheme would add some needed visual dimension. Maybe some simple window boxes? It would be nice to have a porch, even if the depth was not able to be substantial. It’s missing the “homey” feel.
