Abandoned Miner’s Cabin For Sale in Superior, AZ Under $30K

OHU50K NOTES

Save This Old House – This was most likely a miner’s cabin as most of the residents on Lime Street in 1940 worked for the metal mines. The cabin sits next to a couple of similar old cabins and is in sad shape, but the Arizona views are expansive.

History

Superior was founded as a silver, gold, zinc and copper mining town in 1875 and had a population of 100 in 1880. A couple of years before the town was founded, at the height of the American Indian Wars, a group of Apaches were ambushed by the U.S. Calvary. The Apaches lost 50 men and retreated up the mountain later named Apache Leap.  Accepting defeat, rather than being captured, the remaining Apache company leapt to their deaths. The old copper mine shaft sits atop Apache Leap. Magna Mines closed in 1996.

Speaking as an Arizona native, the joke we make around here is that Superior isn’t. The rest of the area looks a lot like this poor little home.
