This is such an attractive house. The fixer upper is on a street of two rows of well-kept brick houses built in the 1930s. The interior of the home offers hardwood floors, built-ins, fireplace, arched doorways and tiled bath.
The East English Village neighborhood of Detroit is full of charm well-kept houses full of charm and distinctive brickwork. All of the homes were built with quality materials and craftsman ship from 1913 through 1950.
Like our featured home, the majority of East English Village homes were built in the 1930s and were custom designed by the homeowners who were professionals, including physicians, police officers, civil servants, lawyers and auto industry executives.
In 2006 East English Village was named “one of Detroit’s most stable” neighborhoods. During the housing crisis, however, many of the homes were foreclosed on, and in 2011, the Detroit mayor offered over 200 tax-foreclosed houses in the neighborhood to police officers to convince them to stay in the city.
Today the crime map below does not reflect it, but in 2016 East English Village was voted “Best Neighborhood in Detroit.”
