The neighborhood takes its name from Perrysville Avenue, part of the old Venango trail. Commodore Perry used the Indian trail to haul supplies from Pittsburgh to Erie in the battle against the British during the War of 1812. The steep hill where this house sits is where Perrysville Avenue begins and the flat river plain gives way to the steep hill.
