OHU50K NOTES
I wasn’t expecting those stunning stained glass windows! Located in the Perry South neighborhood of Pittsburgh, the house sits on a steep road with handsome older houses.
Perry South Neighborhood
The neighborhood takes its name from Perrysville Avenue, part of the old Venango trail. Commodore Perry used the Indian trail to haul supplies from Pittsburgh to Erie in the battle against the British during the War of 1812. The steep hill where this house sits is where Perrysville Avenue begins and the flat river plain gives way to the steep hill.
The hilltop neighborhood was developed as a streetcar suburb, so it is made up of almost exclusively residential housing with a small business district. In an effort to curb decay and improve the business district, current residents have formed the Perry South Citizens Council.
