Family History
Luke David Hutchinson (1873-1948), a farmer and general store owner/operator, owned this home. Hutchinson was 5’7″ tall of medium build and was described as “white with black eyes and black hair,” on his WWI Draft Registration Card. He married his first wife, Mollie Quattlebaum (1878-1917) in 1893 when she was just 15. The couple had eight children together before her death. Hutchinson married his second wife, Zula Kate Stevens (b.1880) in 1919. Better known as Kate, she helped raise most of the children and lived to 94.
