OHU50K NOTES $45,000 Sold
This former church for sale more recently has served as a storefront with a two-bedroom apartment. The former First Baptist Church has beautiful stained glass windows. One was donated by William Carlos Brown, an executive for the New York Central Railroad in New York City. He had ties to Iowa, and paid for the window in honor of his father, the Rev. Charles E. Brown, the first pastor of the original congregation established in 1857 when they met in the local court house. Later in 1883 the congregation erected this church at a cost of $2,700. Per the newspaper article below, the building was still serving as a church in 1966.

I and my husband live in Denver where I grew up. My mother died in October of 2021 and my father is also gone. I am ready to leave this dreadful place! We live on my fixed income witch is impossible here. Our rent for a 600 sq ft apartment is $1500.00. We have gotten into such a slump my husband just sits in the bedroom. I know there is more out there for us and I have been watching this church on Zillow for months. I believe it can bring our life back and we can do the same in return. I have many ideas, the first being possibly a youth center. The second would be a restaurant. But anyway I would work my fingers to the bone to have this building and be able to make the lights shine brilliantly on Christmas!

Cindy Webb don’t give up. My hubby and I are in the same situation here in Virginia as a bunch of meth heads burnt down our home. On this Thursday we will be closing on a house in Danville. We havevlived in a file room at my hubbys work to save every penny. Like you for us to rent a little dump here would be 1500 bucks a month. Its been tough but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Prayers!
