History

The 1913 and 1927 Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps indicate that this building was a bakery back then. A harness shop sat on the corner side which is no longer there. According to the mural, the building later became Chicks Place, a restaurant.

If you read the full listing for this property, it is twice the size (when you add together the main floor and the 2nd floor). “Constructed in 1900 this 3,080 total square foot building features 2 levels of use with unlimited possibilities….” It appears to have two kitchens, one for the former bakery I assume, and one for the proprietor’s family. If you can make it up all those stairs from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor, this is a darling place!
