Circa 1904 Saint Louis Shotgun House $35K – Sold
OHU50K Notes $35,000 Sold
Many historians agree that the shotgun house originated in the Southern United States, mainly in New Orleans, but the shotgun house is a staple of loads of Saint Louis neighborhoods from north to south.
This two, bedroom, one bath shotgun is located in the Pentose neighborhood of Saint Louis. The neighborhood was named after Clement Penrose, who was appointed land commissioner by Thomas Jefferson in 1805. Penrose purchased a large amount of land and built an estate in the location. The area remained rural until about 1900, so this shotgun is among the earliest homes built in the Penrose neighborhood.
