Family History
This humble home was owned by Jewell James and his wife Allie. They purchased it sometime in the 1920s. The couple had one son, Charles. Jewell was a grocer and employee of the Illinois Central shops. In 1940, Jewell was found dead in his bed at the age of 47. He had returned home from work at 11p.m. in good health, went to sleep and apparently had a heart attack. Allie and Charles continued to lived in the home at least until 1987.
