Family History

Minor Howard Thorne (1904-1983) and Ethel May Efaw (1904-1972) married in 1927, and soon after purchased this brick Tudor Revival. Minor completed one year of college and was a tool and die maker for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 37 years before retiring. The couple raised their children, Jack, June, Richard, Charles, Marilyn and Janet, in this home. Per the US Census, Mr. Thorne made $2,139 in 1939, and in that year, the home was valued at $4,000, the equivalent of $82,150 in today’s dollars.
