Family History
After her husband Theodore passed away in 1936, Bertha Brockmeier (1869-1958), a German immigrant, sold their dairy farm and purchased this circa 1920 bungalow. At this time, Bertha’s son Walter was supporting the family, which consisted of Bertha, William and his sisterEmma, by working as a teacher in the public school system. The family also took in a lodger to make ends meet.
After Bertha’s death in 1958, the house was passed down to William and Emma. Emma was a nurse who loved helping people. She lived in the home until her death in 1988.
