Family History
I would have liked to have gone back further, but the farthest family name connected to this house that I discovered was the Pierce family. James and Mildred Pierce (remember the Joan Crawford movie classic?) lived here in the 1950s and 1960s. Lucky Mildred won a free ham from Hyland Food Market in 1960.
After the Pierce family moved out, Douglas Johnson and his wife Russelle purchased the home and lived here through the 1970s. Douglas was a WWII vet and was employed as a service station attendant. Russelle delighted in her flower garden and won a blue ribbon for her pink begonias in 1969. She was none too happy when a car crashed into a tree and the fence around her flower garden in 1973.

Danville has/had a huge opioid/drug problem.
Most of the town has been up for sale over the last two to three years. Most of the properties have sold. Beautiful old historic homes in a city rich with history.
Not sure how the gentrification is going but I do hope it revitalizes. It used to be very pretty.
