Sold – Circa 1921 Handyman Special Craftsman Bungalow in Wichita, KS $40K
OHU50K Notes. $40,000 Sold
As soon as I saw the beadboard porch ceiling, I knew this handyman special had promise. The circa 1921 Craftsman bungalow boasts natural woodwork, hardwood floors, fireplace with flanking bookcases, original wood windows and built-ins. I love the original kitchen cupboards but not the galley configuration. I would love to know what is behind that wall, because it needs to go.

Family History
In the 1930s through the 1950s, this Craftsman bungalow was the home of Mrs. Katherine Raisig. Born in Russia in 1895, Katherine Mack, better known as Katie, married George Raisig in 1921. Both George and Katie only had a six grade education, but they were able to purchase this home soon after their wedding. The couple raised their children, Lily and Arthur, in the home. George supported the family as a butcher in a grocery store, but developed a drinking habit. Katie, in fact, had him arrested in 1954 for drunk and disorderly conduct. It appears he did not return to the home after that, because when their daughter Lily married later that year, only Mrs. Raisig’s name was mentioned.
