This is an affordable home that may have been the most popular style home built in the 1950s and 1960s. How many of you grew up in a cape cod home?  A cape cod in Copiague, New York, was the first home my parents owned and the home I was brought home to from the hospital as a newborn. As the story goes, my parents, who rented an apartment in Queens at the time, were on the way for a weekend getaway to Montauk Point when they stopped into a model home off of Sunrise Highway. Right there, they put a $50 deposit on one of the subdivision’s capes. With no money left for their vacation, they never made it to Montauk Point but turned back to Queens. My husband, too, grew up in a cape in Massapequa, New York, around the corner from the Baldwin brothers.
