OHU50K NOTES
Love this foreclosure’s wrap-around porch, French door/windows, staircase and mantel. OHU50 first featured this home back in December of 2019 when it was listed at $34,900. It subsequently went off market, but the foreclosure was re-listed recently for $14,900.
This fixer upper is located in Titusville, Pennsylvania. The city, known as the birthplace of the oil industry, was the leading oil producing region in the world around the turn of the 20th century, as well as being notable for its lumber, plastic and tool making industries. This home very well may have been originally owned by a mid-level worker in one of those industries.
FYI: America’s first oil industry millionaire, Jonathan Watson, lived in Titusville. In 1870, another oil magnate, Franklin S. Tarbell, built a beautiful Italianate in the city which has been lovingly restored. In fact, a replica of the cupola (the original was destroyed in a 1920 fire) was fitted onto the home in 2016. See photos below.
