History
The mission-style Huron Tabernacle Church was dedicated in 1905 and served as a Methodist Church until 1975. The building remained vacant for many years until it was donated to Mary Hebert (a member of the Historic Preservation Commission) and the Carnegie non-profit after the absentee owners saw other preservation work done by Hebert put the building in “safe hands. Per cheboygannews.com, “leaks have caused plaster damage to the interior. The outside stucco is also deteriorating due to leaks and pieces of it have fallen to the sidewalk and yard nearby.”
