The first prototype Wanderlodge was built in 1963 by the Blue Bird Company, later named the Blue Bird Corporation. You might recognize the name, as Blue Bird built school buses.  Back in the early 1960s, the recreational vehicle was called the Transit Home. It went into full production in 1965 at a cost of $12,000. With more than 200 options, no two interiors are exactly alike. The last Wanderlodge was built in 2009 with a list price of more than $1M. It was that year that the Wanderlodge factory closed down.

I will try to answer all questions, if you’re interested please let me know, I think Facetime video is really the best way to show this since there is so much information. Time for someone to enjoy it like we have. Just finished up a 1400 mile trip where I got 8mpg in this attention getting 1978 FC31 Wanderlodge. This Wanderlodge is powered by a cat 3208 na mated to a 4 speed Allison transmission. Stopping power is via air brakes. Clear Ohio title.

Positives

Good tires. AC is so cold you will have to turn one of the two roof top units off. New steering gear and power steering rebuilt in 2022. New chassis batteries 2021. I adjusted the brakes prior to leaving for my trip and they are at about 65%. Oil change and transmission fluid changed prior to trip. Fridge works on 120 and propane Gas heaters work, no chassis heat and the electric heaters have been removed. Water works on city and on 12v Odom has 138000 miles. I also have the bluebox with service records. All lights have been switched over to LED on the outside and inside. Black and Grey water tanks both work and new Grey water valve installed this year.

I got 8mpg while towing a jeep last trip 8/5/22.

Flaws

Bus does have flaws Air steps needs a new cylinder Some sagging interior panels from past water leaks that have been repaired. No oven so you have to plug a moveable oven In if you want to bake Onan Emerald III 6500watt unit had a failure and I am pending new exhaust gaskets and will be installed once new gaskets come in this week.
