Today the yard has lovely flowering bushes and is next to a green area. The interior offers French doors, some natural woodwork and five-panel doors, but the home is a project.

Florence Ave. was once home to a number of extravagant dwellings, few of which remain today. It was originally in what was the separate city of West Alexandria, long ago absorbed into the current single city. Though outside the price point of this venue, the Alfred Cook home (a brick Victorian) at the corner of Florence Ave. and Monroe St. is for sale. Some might consider this neighborhood unsafe, but I think it’s ok.
