OHU50K NOTES

This c.1900 farmhouse for sale in situated on 1.2 rural acres in the middle of vast acreage of farmland. The closest town is Hartford City with a population of 6,220, but the house is actually situated in the extinct town of Renner. Renner consisted of a railroad station and a 530-acre livestock farm owned by Benjamin Johnson that produced prize-winning Hereford cattle, Hampshire hogs, and horses including Poetry of Motion, a champion show horse.
In 1919, Johnson sold the farm to Fred Stimson. Stimson continued to run it as a livestock farm until 1927 when he began general farming. He sold it in 1937 to the Scripps Foundation/Miami University. Today the railroad station is gone, but a farm still exists, and our featured house sits on a 1.2 acre lot carved out of the old Johnson farm.
