This wonderful 1896 Queen Anne Victorian home for sale is filled with gorgeous Hyde-Murphy woodwork which is breathtaking.

The Hyde-Murphy Company was one of the biggest and most known specialty woodworking mills in America. The firm was founded in 1901 Joseph S. Hyde merged his Ridgway, PA,  sawmill , with Walter P. Murphy who owned a planing mill downstream on the Allegheny River.  Murphy relocated to Ridgway, and the company thrived. After a devastating fire, the company rebuilt but eventually closed for good in 1961. Their woodwork can be seen today in the Pentagon, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, and Smithsonian Institution.

Seller Comments

It has a fantastic location adjacent to downtown putting all of life’s necessities within walking distance with the Post Office just a few steps away. The tree lined street doesn’t see much traffic and parking is never an issue. The 18 mile rail trail to Brockway is just two blocks away and State Game Lands offering hunting and hiking are a few blocks away as well. There are several porches and the yard has a large vegetable garden. The apartment in the carriage house provides extra income as a rental.
