Alabama Fixer Upper $50,000

If you are yearning to get away from the Arctic Blast that is currently torturing most of the Northeast and Mid-West, then I have sourced a couple of properties today that might interest you. This 1910 Alabama fixer upper boasts a large yard, outbuildings, rocking swing on the lovely front porch, high ceilings, hardwood floors, built-ins, French doors and fireplaces. The neighborhood appears to be quite nice with well-kept older houses and a church across the street.

As per the realtor. “3 bedroom, 1 bath with separate dining room. Includes two lots. House, workshop and 1 car garage is on one lot, 3 bay carport on 2nd lot. House needs work and is sold as is.”

619 Parkman Ave, Selma, AL 36701      $49,500 Sold for $45,300 on 3/24/19

OHU50K NOTES

The exterior of this c. 1890 Selma, Alabama, home is picture postcard perfect. Located on a tree-lined street of lovely older homes, anyone would be proud to call this home. The iron fencing, gingerbread porch, imbricated gable shingles, double front doors and landscaping shout out curb appeal!

The first floor interior is beautiful, too, with its wide, southern-style central hallway, transoms, high ceilings, French doors, molding, built-ins, fireplaces, wainscoting and even the ’50s era pink tiled bathroom. The two upstairs apartments are an added plus as well.

Property has just been reduced $10,000 to $49,500.

OHU50K NOTES

This c.1946 Montgomery, Alabama, handyman special sits on 1.39 acres and features a fireplace, hardwood floors, French doors and transoms. Due to the fact that the crime rate is on the high side, I’d recommend it more as an investment rather than a forever home.

Former New Jersey Church $55,000

Thanks to James Simons for submitting this interesting place to call home. The church with attached home is appealing to simply run through the photos, the problem here is the exorbitant, out the roof taxes. I don’t think buyers looking at $50,000 houses expect to pay more $10,000 a year in taxes! The property is assessed at $180,000, however, so a buyer would definitely need to get a reval to mitigate some of that. Check out the neighborhood on Google Maps.
