In the 1920s, this was the residence of Arthur Evans, who came from England in 1887, became a naturalized US citizen in 1917, and was a mine laborer. I found it unlikely that a mine laborer would own such a grand home, so I discovered the Evans were renters. I could not unearth the original owners, who had long ago had sold the home, and new owners broke the home up into a three-family house. Arthur, however, lived in the home with his wife, Winifred, and young children Archie and Vera for a couple of years. Glen and Wanda Feavyear, with their baby daughter Jacquetta, rented another floor at the same time as the Evans. Mr. Fearyear also worked in the coal mine. A third apartment on the attic floor was rented to Walter Neiman, who too worked in the coal mine.
