Family History
This was the first home owned by Gus Barnhart (1879-1971). He married his Lila (1883-1969) around 1905 and carried his wife over the threshold soon after. Gus was a mail clerk for the railroad. The couple had no children.
In 1917, the Barnharts sold the house to John A. Peebles (1878-194s) and his wife Grace Graham Peebles (1884-1965). John was a naturalized US citizen from Scotland. He worked as a district superintendent for an auto part manufacturing company. The couple had one son, Arnold.
