Family History
This is one of Winnsboro’s most historic homes. It was owned by Dr. Ralph Bailey Hannahan, Sr. (1832-1893). He was born on Edisto Island in South Carolina and later served as surgeon in Hagood’s Brigade CSA. The good doctor was married to Adelaide Wilson Hannahan (1832-1914) and sired six children, J. Wilson, Ralph, Addie, Henry, Hamilton and Edward. After Dr. Hannahan’s death in the home, the family continued to live in this beautiful house at least until Adelaide’s death in 1914. It appears that the family also owned a home on Edisto Island.
