Family History

The Claude St. Clair Maher family lived here for decades from the 1920s at least into the 1950s. Claude was a bricklayer for the Jones & Laughlin Steel Co.  his wife, Elizabeth Smith Maher, had four children, Claude Jr., June, Thelma and Myrtle. Elizabeth was heart-broken when Claude passed away from a heart attack at the age of 47 in 1947. She continued to live in the home with the children but never remarried.
