This circa 1902 fixer upper is a half double located in a mill town that saw its heyday  between 1890 and 1920. The town retains significant architectural gems, most notably in Strathglass Park, perhaps the finest company housing in the United States. With an aim to avoid the stacked slums endemic that was evident at Lowell and Lawrence, Massachusetts, in 1900 Hugh Chisholm commissioned architect Cass Gilbert plan a 30-acre site in his company town. He instructed Gilbert, “We will build of brick and stone and slate, and we will provide not merely for a house, but for comfort, elegance and social gratification.”
