Save This Old c.1890 Alabama Fixer Upper Victorian Reduced to $35K

OHU50K Notes $49,990 Reduced to $35,000

The fixer upper Victorian was built around 1890 for a prominent family. It was still a regal home when When Zillia Peters, a widow who was a sales clerk at the 5&Dime, rented an apartment here in 1950. She was so proud of her address that she had the local newspaper make an announcement of her move here.  Today,  the home is worse for wear but is located in an interesting part of town opposite a mansion and next to the old train station and a park with a caboose (tracks are gone). The brickwork, wood ceilings, oversized windows, ornate fireplace mantels and hardwood floors must have been stunning in their day, but by the 1940s the house was rented out room by room.

We first featured the home here when it was a for sale by owner for $49,900. It is now on MLS for $35,000.
