OHU50K NOTES
Save this old house, a house that has loads of stories to tell. The c.1850 Italianate was the home of Jonathan McGee Wilson (1813-1895) his wife Betsy Durfee and children Thomas, Willie and Emma. Jonathan came to the area when he was 12-years-old with his pioneer parents who originally built a humble log cabin nearby. His mother Rachel loved to spin yarn and made all their clothes while his dad farmed the land and ultimately built up a comfortable farming operation.
Jonathan, as the only child, helped his parents on the farm until at the age of 21, he purchased his own 15 acres. Eventually his farm counted 300 acres with a dairy of 65 to 100 cows. He also carried on his father’s trades as currier, tanner and shoemaker.
According to the Biographical Review of Madison County – 1894, Wilson’s c.1850 Italianate once was the “handsomest home in the village.” I sure hope someone has the vision and cash to save this old house.

REALTOR COMMENTS
Large Victorian home located just off of Route 46 south of Oneida. This home needs a total renovation but could be a gem with the right owner. Large rooms, high ceilings and some of the original woodwork remains. Complete renovation would be needed including fire damaged section. Could be very nice farmette with just over 3.5 acres, barn and additional outbuilding.
