OHU50K NOTES

Save this old house. The 2013 photo below shows this wonderful house in better days. Roof damage and general neglect have done a number on this poor home, however, in a matter of a few short years.

Family History

Eliot Ephraim Flowers, a cashier at a bank, and his wife, Marie Holbrook Flowers, owned this house in the 1920s and ’30s when it was valued at $4,000. They lived here with their infant daughter June, and Marie’s mother, Mattie Holbroook.  According to FindAGrave, Elliott enlisted for service on August 28, 1917 for World War I. He was Honorable discharged on September 22, 1919. Shortly after WWI he received a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the Mississippi National Guard and retired from there November 25, 1940.
Elliot married Marie in 1921 and didn’t have June until 12 years later. She was their only child.
