OHU50K NOTES

Save this old house. This cheap old house sits just two doors down from a grand house we featured on OHU50K, the C. M. Boswell House. On the other side of #655 sits a Family Dollar store. Disregard the realtor’s build date of 1965. Ridiculous.

Family History

Our featured house today was owned by James Hardy (1865-1940), owner of the local dry goods store. He lived here with his wife Edith Louella Sloan Hardy (1836-1936). The couple lost their young son, Earle Mansfield Hardy, when he was just two years old. James and Edith lived in the home for decades until their deaths. The house was valued at $7,000 in 1930.
