OHU50K NOTES

This c.1886 home was lovely in its day. Located on a corner lot, even the iron fence indicates a house that was well loved.

I found an interesting 1905 Gaffney Ledger article from March 1905. Apparently, this home was the center of a big reception for the ladies of Gaffney held by the National Biscuit Company, aka Nabisco, to showcase their products. In addition to festive decorations and a musical program, all of Nabisco’s goodies at the time, including Sugar Wafers, Oysterettes, Graham Crackers, Social Tea Biscuits and more were free for the ladies to sample.

REALTOR COMMENTS

Charming historic house in Gaffney. Circa 1886. Convenient to everything Gaffney has to offer. Looking for someone to bring it back to life! Lots of charm with lovely mantels and arched doorway, wrap around porch and inground pool. 3 rooms could be used as bedrooms upstairs but only 1 of them has closets. 2 rooms in basement could be bedrooms as well but no closets. Agent related to seller. Being sold as is where is.

Are there any pictures of the yard and pool? How is the roof, foundation, water, plumbing, heating, electrical, sewage?

The only thing I could find was Rebecca A. Coyle lived here, and she died in 2005 in the hospital at the age of 79. She was the last of 7 sisters and two brothers, but the rest of her family gathered at the Gaffney home as part of the funeral services.

This home was once a rare gem in a thriving, beautiful neighborhood. Unfortunately, today it is very blighted. Clearly it has been neglected and not liven in for many years. The neighborhood now, is scary and crime ridden. The view, if sitting on the front porch is horrible. This picture of the house is from 2002. The bars on the windows are still in place and need to continue to stay there.
