It seems that sometime after their 17-year-old son died in a motorcycle accident in 1979, William and Irene established the Winder House B&B. Records indicate that the couple lived in the home from at least 1994-2002. They named the establishment after the original owners, the Winder family.

You see a lot of old deteriorated old homes on the Eastern Shore with brand new metal roofs. At least they take some step to stabilize the historic houses. My family loves the Eastern Shore, and the fact that this home is only 15 minutes to Chincoteague beaches is enticing.
