OHU50K NOTES

Sometimes the most neglected house from the exterior has many intact original features on the interior. This c.1918 foursquare falls into that category.

History

This was the home of Dean and Gwendolyn Ball Myers in the 1940s and 1950s. Dean was a former Albion mayor and manager of an implements and automobile dealership business working 60 hours a week. His wife was assistant manager. They lived in this home with their children, Dean, Geraldine and David, and a live-in maid. Mrs. Myers was president of the Albion Business and Professional Women’s Club. She often hosted Family Nights with pot luck suppers, films and games for her church. She was a busy lady, as she also was president of the Women’s Fellowship of the Omaha Association and as such was sometimes a guest speaker emphasizing the importance of families. In addition, Mrs. Myers was a member of the Delta Cards and planned and hosted several social events at the local country club. Apparently, Dean worked too hard, as he died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 46 in 1956.

REALTOR COMMENTS

This big old home is ready for a facelift. It is a big 3104 on two levels with approx. another 1000 sf walk up attic space and a full basement. It sits on 2 1/2 lots on the corner for a big 16, 812SF. The original woodwork throughout is absolutely amazing. It deserves to be restored to its former grandeur. Call me today!
