OHU50K NOTES

Looks can be deceiving. While it appears to be a sweet little bungalow in fairly good condition, according to newspaper articles over the years, the address has an eventful history.  What starts out as happy birthday parties in the 1950s, ends up in a deadly birthday party in 2020. It goes to show that due diligence should always be performed before purchasing a home.

Case in point. My daughter’s old college roommate  (we will call her Nancy) and her husband recently paid $100,000 over asking price for a non-descript bungalow in Indianapolis. They are young, early 20s, and did not think to check out crime stats before buying. The first day Nancy is alone in her new home, she is on the phone when she hears someone enter the back door. An intoxicated woman had broken in and was attempting to steal items. Police caught her. A week later, thieves stole the catalytic converter from Nancy’s husband’s car during the night.
