208 S Congress St, Winnsboro, SC 29180             $95,000 SOLD

Preservation South Carolina acquired this old house in 2020 when the owner passed away and the son decided to sell it for $50,000. The organization has now put the property on the market for $95,000.

The Wolfe House, one of the most significant houses in Winnsboro, was built in 1880 by John Miller, a taylor. Constructed of heart pine, the two-story antebellum mansion features a gabled portico with hand-turned arches and columns. The mantels, cornices, wainscoting, door facings and trim are also hand carved. Note the symmetrical double-hung windows, too.

Repairs needed include new roof, repairing the collapsed chimney and damaged portico, and some foundation work, among other things.

Come take advantage of the revitalization in downtown Winnsboro, SC! The Wolfe House stands with original hand carved moldings, door facings, mantels, wainscoting and trim. It is a showplace awaiting a Buyer with a historic preservation mindset. Please email PreserveSC for information regarding assistance with preserving this property.
