James Walker Fallwell (1880-1930) built this house in 1907 (the date is carved in the gable). Mr. Fallwell was a successful plumbing and heating contractor who lived here with his wife Hennie.  After James died in 1930, Hennie continued to live in the house with boarders for decades. It performs a decent imitation of rusticated stone in an area where stone was never a major source of building material. Chester is located not far from I-77 between Charlotte and Columbia, about an hour from either.
