Stamford, Texas Home with Seller Financing $45K
Here is a cute home in Stamford, Texas, with seller financing. The sweet cottage is located on a street of small, older homes. All the homes face a wide green median which adds appeal. The property needs TLC, but it offers a detached garage, front porch to enjoy the green median, nice size fenced yard, built-in bookcase, and my favorite feature – original kitchen cupboards!
Stamford (pop. 3,124) is a small town in the Abilene metropolitan area of the state. The town was named for Stamford, Connecticut, but the townsite was actually donated by the family of Swante Magnus Swenson, the first Swedish immigrant to Texas and one of the largest landowners in Texas. Mr. Swenson, in fact, was very active in initiating and supporting Swedish immigration to Texas. He assisted Swedish immigrants by paying for their passage to Texas in exchange for their labor. After persuading the Texas Central Railroad to extend the railroad through their land in 1900, the Swenson brothers then donated the townsite 640 acres. Many of the cotton farmers who moved to Stamford from Sweden bought parcels of land from the Swenson brothers. In honor of the town founders, Stamford’s main street is named Swenson.
